Kitchener Rangers to add seats to the Aud
Under current proposal, the city of Kitchener will borrow money on behalf of the Rangers, who will repay the loan with interest over 16 years.
The Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League have plans in place to add 1,000 seats to the 60-year-old Kitchener Auditorium. The renovation, which is estimated to cost $9.6 million, will increase the capacity of the Aud to 7,268. Demand for more seating is present as the team currently has a waiting list of 1,300. The Rangers have set aside $1.2 million for any cost overruns, a problem that occurred during the last renovation in 2001.
