Less than a month until completion of $24M renovation of Cheney Stadium
Included are 16 suites and 156 dugout club seats.
Spanning 96,000 square feet, the renovation project at the Cheney Stadium includes the addition of new and expanded restrooms and concession stands with more points of sale. Also included are the new disabled seating and access, new ballpark entries, a right field grass berm, 16 luxury suites, 156 new 'dugout club' seats behind home plate and a 4,000-square-foot club and restaurant space. New shorter has been installed at the stadium with see-through left field fence. Each team’s bullpen will be behind it.
The design of Cheney Stadium includes both wood and glass to pay homage to the South Sound and to help make the facility not resemble an average brick and mortar ballpark. High priority additions such as the new grass seating berm are also part of the design plans.
One notable aspect of the renovation is the recycling of about 96% of the construction waste. The renovation has also extended the roofline of the stadium by about three storeys.
