The 12 field level suites will be a first of their kind in MLS and international football

Article Synopsis:

Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes are ready to sell 12 luxury suites for its proposed $60 million, 15,000-seat stadium. The sale of this premium seating inventory will demonstrate whether or not the project is financial feasible.

All 12 suites, six along the north side and six along the south side, are at field level – a first in MLS and international football. They are cut from the same cloth as the field level suites at Cowboys Stadium or courtside seats in most NBA arenas.

Terms for the suites, which hold up to 23 people, are $350,000 for five years. Contracts include all 20 Earthquakes home matches plus 10-15 other events throughout the year.

There are also plans in place to build up the land adjacent to the stadium. The remainder of the site is to be developed into 1.5 million square-feet of office space, 75,000 square-feet of retail space, 300 hotel rooms and parking.

The project is being privately financed by team owner Lew Wolff and should be ready in time for the 2013 season, assuming the team receives its planned development permit after a public meeting on December 14 and its building permit from the city shortly thereafter.
