Despite Champions League guidelines that prohibit standing areas, Paris Saint-Germain is open to the idea, following its recent replacement of approximately 4,000 seats. At an estimated €50 per seat, PSG has paid out approximately €200,000 in seat repairs at Parc des Princes.
PSG’s interest in the safe-standing experiment extends beyond repair costs, as the team was recently punished by the Federation Francaise de Football for fan-related incidents. Since the return of the “Ultras”, PSG has been subject to several fines and even closed part of Parc des Princes’ stands. Following these costly punishments and repairs, PSG is hopeful that the experiment will go through despite the guidelines of the UEFA Champions League.
