At Cleveland Cold Ones, fans can find new digital age-verification technology which launched in the 2022 football season, offering a faster and more efficient way for fans to order and pick up beverages. The technology is an extension of the existing facial authentication program powered by Wicket: Browns Express Access, which expanded significantly at FirstEnergy Stadium to expedite ingress in 2022 after debuting in 2020.
FirstEnergy Stadium was one of the first sports stadiums to implement digital age-verification technology at an extensive number of locations throughout their venue.
As part of the Browns Express Access facial authentication program, fans 21 years and older can opt into Wicket's digital age-verification to buy alcoholic beverages. To sign up, fans upload a picture of their government-issued ID (vetted for authenticity by IDmission) and take a selfie using their mobile device. This is all done in a straightforward and integrated process that combines the Facial Ticketing and Age Verification registrations, and fan information is used exclusively for the purpose of expediting the order redemption process. Fans can then place a drink order via the mobile ordering service Cleveland Cold Ones, which has 14 different locations throughout the stadium. When enrolled customers arrive to pick up their beverage(s), they simply present their face to a Wicket sensor to verify their age and their order, and their beverages will be handed to them within seconds, making an already quick and easy process even more seamless so they can return to their seats and catch all of the game’s action.
