Marquee Club presented by Lexus

We are pleased to submit the Marquee Club Presented by Lexus, which is Fox Theatre’s new premium membership club set to open May 19, 2018. Expanding upon its footprint, the Fox Theatre has revitalized 10,000 square feet of vacant retail space in the northwest corner of the building to house the aforementioned Marquee Club.

The $10 million expansion included restoring the original historic exterior storefront, arcade walls and arcade terrace from the original 1929 building. A historic venue and protected landmark, Fox Theatre leadership selected Lord Aeck Sargent (LAS), a preeminent historical preservation design firm to lead the architectural planning. Innovative and detailed 3D scanning technology allowed the LAS team to maintain intricate details of the historic building by documenting aspects impossible to see or reach by standard procedures. The scans helped the designers place mechanical systems, plan for floor level changes, as well as visualize every piece of furniture and interiors to bring the space to life before construction.

Inspired by a Middle Eastern courtyard, the space borrows Moorish, Arabic, Art Nouveau and Art Deco architectural influences from the historic Fox Theatre. Starting with the main floor and the guests’ first steps into the entry way, they are surrounded in opulence with the rich jewels tones. The peacock blue banquettes, which carry into the intricate rug designs, and gold accents travel throughout the space - in the wall décor, in both the tilework and rug, and touched upon on all the highboy and side tables. On the main floor, guests will be transfixed with the stunning chandelier, which is comprised of 16 light bulbs and over 200 hand-blown glass, crystal shapes. A signature feature is the hand-painted mural located on the main level as well. By the London-based company de Gournay, the mural was custom-made for the Marquee Club and took more than three weeks to complete. The colors were chosen to complement the surrounding pieces of furniture and carpets. A stunning bar top is made from blue Bahia granite with backlit onyx panels on the front and an overlay of decorative gold tracery.

Throughout the space, walls are draped in leather panels including the grand staircase. The grand staircase touches upon all levels of the Marquee Club Presented by Lexus – main level, mezzanine and conservatory/rooftop terrace. The grand staircase, as well as all stonework within the Marquee Club, is encased in stone sourced from Brazil, Spain and Algeria to enhance the rich textures, colors and materials.

The mezzanine overlooks the main level and is surrounded by a complex fretwork pattern of wood trim that recalls the decorative surface treatments commonly found in Arabic and Moorish architecture. The mezzanine includes five cornflower blue daybeds with 16 warm Tuscany side chairs for perfect entertainment seating. The ceiling is painted with the colors of the night sky to set the tone for the evening at the theater.

The rooftop harkens back to the themes of Middle Eastern courtyard with teals and orange seating throughout. With three different environment, which include a glass encased conservatory, patio-covered arcade terrace and the fully outdoor rooftop terrace. Still in progress is a unique and soon-to-be signature fire and water feature in the northwest corner of the rooftop terrace, all of which overlooks Atlanta’s famed Peachtree street.

Although international in style, the Fox Theatre utilized local vendors whenever possible. Local vendors were utilized while unique pieces were sourced from around the world for the luxurious space. Local partners include custom furniture handcrafted by Corn Upholstery in Tucker, Ga., pillows by Design Impressions in Marietta, Ga., custom exterior tables by Hospitality Woodworks in Atlanta, Ga., and drapery by R. Hopkins & Co. Inc., in Atlanta, Ga. A single light fixture was inspired by an Edwardian British sugar shaker acquired in South Africa when it was a British colony by the grandparents of John Schneider, LAS Interiors principal.
