University of Georgia Lighting and Show Control Integration
The game-day experience in Athens, Georgia, has recently been elevated thanks to a lighting upgrade at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium. The venue includes LED video displays in the end zones and ribbon displays circling the playing field that are tied to the new LED field lighting and triggered using Daktronics Show Control system. The event producers on site, including three Daktronics employees, have put together a light show like no other in college football. Close coordination between Daktronics event producers and the university staff brought this moment to life.

Their experience with Show Control triggering lighting began in their basketball coliseum and was quickly brought to football for their fourth-quarter hype moment. LED video displays, digital content and lighting are integrated with Show Control to make the stadium go dark and then light up all red for the Georgia Bulldogs including their “Hunker Down” saying being shown on the LED displays. The lighting and content is timed to the music through the control system for an amazing, engaging moment before play resumes.

Mike Bilbow, University of Georgia Assistant AD, Digital & Production, commented:
“We kind of broke it out and surprised people with that. And people love it. They really, really love it. And I love being able to be a part of it, because it’s one of the coolest things that I’ve ever gotten to do.”
